Membership FAQ

WHAT TYPES OF MEMBERSHIPS ARE OFFERED?

MEMBERSHIP TYPES - ANNUAL or 4-DAY PASS

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP – Lasts one year from date of application or current membership expiration date (renew BEFORE the expiration date and get 14 months!).

REGULAR: 

  • Single Adult (age 18+) $240
  • Family (self, adult co-member + up to 4 children under age 18) $295

LEO / MILITARY / VETERAN / SENIOR (AGE 65+) / FIRST RESPONDER:

  • Single Adult (age 18+) $215
  • Family (self, adult co-member + up to 4 children under age 18) $270

4-DAY PASS

PRE-PAY 4 VISITS FOR ONE PERSON AT $120. This never expires. 

WHAT DOES MY MEMBERSHIP INCLUDE?

- Partial Memberships include 4 Daily Range Visits for $100 (never expires).

- Full Memberships include unlimited use of the range during Regular Range Hours, for 365-days from date of application or current membership expiration date.

MAY I BRING A GUEST?

- The Primary and Co-Member may each bring 1-2 guests per visit at $30 per guest (plus applicable Range Badge fees if they do not already have one). 

IF THE GUEST IS A MINOR (less than age 18) WHO IS NOT YOUR CHILD THE LEGAL PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST COMPLETE AND SUBMIT A PARENT CONSENT FORM.  In addition, you must list the minor on your Waiver. CLICK HERE FOR THE PARENT CONSENT FORM  

- Children on a family membership may not bring guests.

MAY I BRING SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD TO THE RANGE?

- To bring a child (minor) to the range who is not your child, the legal parent/guardian must complete and submit a Parent Consent Form. In addition, you must list the minor on your Waiver. CLICK HERE FOR THE PARENT CONSENT FORM  

WHEN WILL MY MEMBERSHIP CARD BE AVAILABLE?

- If you completed the application online AND you have received an email that your membership was accepted, your Membership Card will be available for you to pick up in the range office during regular hours.

- If you complete the application and payment in the range office, your card(s) will be issued immediately.

IF I HAVE A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP, HOW MANY MEMBERSHIP CARDS WILL BE ISSUED?

The Primary and Co-Member will each be issued a membership card. 

MAY I COLLECT THE MEMBERSHIP CARD FOR ANOTHER MEMBER?

No. Each Member must show their ID to retrieve the their Membership Card. The Membership Cards will be kept on file in the range office until they are picked up.

WHAT IF I LOSE OR FORGET MY MEMBERSHIP CARD?

There is a $10 replacement charge for the membership card.

WHAT IF I CHOOSE TO NOT PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP – MAY I STILL USE THE RANGE?

Without a membership, you may use the range if:

  1. A Member brings you as a guest or
  2. You are participating in a class that's open to the public.

IS MEMBERSHIP FEE REFUNDABLE?

No.

DO I NEED A RANGE BADGE?

Yes. All adults on the range need to have a Range Badge and wear it prominently displayed. We recommend you keep your Membership Card tucked inside the Range Badge holder. If you have one from before the range changed to “Members Only”, it is still valid and necessary – bring it!

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE RANGE BADGE?

The Range Badge shows the Range Safety Officer that you have been provided with an orientation on a particular section of the range (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Archery), and that you have been observed to follow the range rules correctly and conduct yourself in a safe manner.

HOW DO I GET A RANGE BADGE?

The first time you visit Wicen’s Shooting Range, each adult (age 18+) may be issued a Range Badge. Every person (including children) must pay a $10 orientation fee for the first time use of EACH range section they intend to use.

- The 4 range sections are 1) Rifle, 2) Pistol, 3) Shotgun, 4) Archery. 

- Children will be listed on their guardians’ Range Badge for each range section they intend to use.

MUST I SIGN A WAIVER EACH TIME I COME TO THE RANGE?

The first time you come to the range, you must complete and submit the Extended Waiver which is required for all persons age 18 and above (members/guests/observers/students). This waiver is kept on file. ONLY IF YOUR DETAILS HAVE CHANGED WOULD YOU NEED TO COMPLETE A NEW WAIVER.

All subsequent visits will require you to sign the Daily Log in the Range Office before using the range and show your Membership Card (partial or full), Range Badge and government issued photo ID (Driver’s license / Passport). EVEN CHILDREN must sign the Daily Log.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

REGULAR HOURS

(if weather is questionable, call before you come and listen to the voice mail message 215-598-3534):

  • MARCH / APRIL / MAY / JUNE Wednesday through Saturday 9-5. Sunday 10-5.
  • JULY / AUGUST Wednesday through Saturday 9-5. Sunday’s in July and August 9-3.
  • SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER / NOVEMBER / DECEMBER /JANUARY Wednesday through Saturday 9-5. Sunday 10-5. Note: Range will close at sunset if before 5pm.
  • FEBRUARY CLOSED except for Range Staff Development Clinics, Private Events and Classes.
  • Range is always closed Monday and Tuesday – year round. Closed major holidays.

IS THE RANGE PRIVATE OR OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

The range is private. Membership options are explained on the Home Page.

MAY I USE THE RANGE IF I AM NOT A MEMBER?

Yes, but only if you come as a guest with a current Member or are attending a class.

MAY I BE AN OBSERVER?

Yes, but you must check in at the Range Office and complete a Waiver.

- You will not be allowed to be on the firing line unless authorized by the Deck Officer.

- You may stand behind the fence at the pistol, rifle and archery ranges or in the grass area at the shotgun range.

- You will be issued a temporary Observer badge that you will return to the range office when you leave.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I GET TO THE RANGE?

Leave all equipment in your vehicle, bring your Government Issued Photo ID (driver's license), Money or Credit Card and Range Badge / Membership Card (if you already have one) to the Range Office to pay and sign the required daily waiver.  

 

Following this, you may retrieve your equipment from your vehicle. Carrying all firearms CASED from your vehicle to the shooting station, where you will uncase it with the muzzle pointing downrange the entire time. Remember: Treat Every Gun as if it is Loaded.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS?

Yes - we accept all major credit / debit cards, as well as cash.

DO YOU RENT FIREARMS OR BOWS?

No. You must bring your own firearm or bow for your personal use.

DO YOU SELL AMMUNITION?

No. You must bring your own ammunition for your firearm/arrows for bows.

WHAT SHOT SIZE IS ALLOWED ON THE SHOTGUN RANGE?

Target loads only. No shot size larger than 7.5 (acceptable sizes are 7.5, 8, 8.5 or 9) - Note: The higher the number, the smaller the size of the actual BB's. 

DO YOU OFFER EDUCATION/TRAINING?

Yes. Go to our courses page for more information. PLEASE NOTE - NO OUTSIDE INSTRUCTION ALLOWED. All instruction MUST be scheduled through WSR using WSR Instructors.

DO YOU SELL GIFT CERTIFICATES?

Yes. Click HERE to complete your online order, or visit us and pick one up in the range office during regular hours.

DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT?

Yes.

- You must be at least 18 years of age, with a range badge to use the rifle, shotgun, pistol or archery range independently. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who has a range badge.

- Children under the age of 7 are not permitted on the shooting range without permission from the deck officer.

- ALL CHILDREN UNDER AGE 18 MUST BE CLOSELY SUPERVISED BY THEIR GUARDIAN AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE RANGE PROPERTY.

WHAT DISTANCE IS THE RIFLE RANGE?

The rifle range is 100 yards in length. We have portable  target stands with cardboard backing that you staple your paper target to (we have staple guns for you to use). Every 30 minutes there is a cease fire when you may walk your target stand out however far you want it (and/or check your targets).

WHAT IS PROHIBITED ON THE FIRING LINE?

- .50 BMG

- Automatic Firearms

- Shotgun Range: Shotguns must be a minimum of 36" total length

- Rapid Fire - there must be At Least three whole seconds between each Aimed Shot

- Tracer

- Armor Piercing Ammo

- Cameras / Image Recording Devices - NO PHOTO'S OR VIDEOS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY!

- Cell Phones

- Smoking

MAY I BRING MY NFA FIREARM TO THE RANGE?

Yes - ALONG WITH A PHOTOCOPY OF THE APPROVED PROOF OF REGISTRATION. You will be required to show it before using the firearm.

WHAT QUALIFIES AS AN NFA FIREARM?

MAY I BE ON THE RANGE IF I AM PREGNANT?

No. The effects on an unborn child due to noise levels and lead exposure are unknown and we do not advise your participation in shooting activities while pregnant.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE RANGE?

Always wear a hat with a brim in front, sturdy shoes or boots (not sandals, flip flops or high-heels), a high necked shirt (T-shirt or buttons - nothing low-cut - this is to help prevent a hot shell casing from falling down your shirt when ejected by your firearm).

 

Please check the Furlong, PA weather for more discretion - It is usually windy and a bit colder at the range than it may be outside your front door - especially if you live in a city.

DO YOU OFFER TARGETS FOR SALE?

Yes. We have a variety of paper targets available for purchase, including Shoot-N-C type targets! Claybirds are available for use on the shotgun range or the pistol/rifle backstops.

DO YOU HAVE FOOD AND WATER AVAILABLE?

Bring your water bottle for free refills in the range office. There is no food available, but you may bring your own and eat in the fire pit area off the firing line.

MAY I BRING MY DOG TO THE RANGE?

No. Dogs are not allowed on the range property.

ARE YOU OPEN YEAR ROUND?

No. We are closed every Monday and Tuesday, the entire month of February and on Major Holidays. Being an outside range, if we're experiencing inclement weather, we'll update the Voice Mail message at 215-598-3534.

If the weather is questionable - always call before you come!  The range will be closed if the high temperature in Furlong, PA is predicted to be 25 degrees or less.
